About counseling
My goal is to bring a warm, direct, and supportive energy to the process of therapy in order to create a safe and relaxed environment. I approach therapy with the view that it must be practical and useful while also open to the possibility that deeper questions in life may impact our ability to change and transform. With couples counseling I take a directive approach that includes teaching communication skills and conflict resolution.
About me
I received an M.Ed. from the University of Missouri, with an emphasis in counseling psychology. In 1989, after a few years of agency counseling, I opened a private practice in counseling and psychotherapy. My areas of specialization include couples counseling, anxiety issues and disorders, PTSD, depression and mood related issues, sexual abuse recovery, addiction, and personal growth and development.
Services
I offer individual counseling, couples and marital counseling, as well as marathon couples counseling sessions and conversation coaching. I have completed the 3rd level of the Gottman Couples Therapy Training as well as their 17 hour course on couples counseling regarding trauma and infidelity. I have also completed the four day Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy© for couples.
